Built on a foundation of pride and community, the logo features the Chicago’s name in big bold colors allowing the location to be clear during every show. I built this logo with a reoccurring nature in mind. The word “Chicago” is a frame that can be updated to reflect the branding of future events it surrounds.
To keep the overall look on brand for Rolling Stone but maintain a nod to the Lollapalooza 2019 full rainbow aesthetic, I narrowed the rainbow into a gradient of bright orange to red. This allowed the line work, type and logo to pop on the black and white backgrounds and allowed me to keep the colors clearly Rolling Stone.
A key component of Rolling Stone’s brand is dynamic rule work, sometimes large sometimes thin, but always present to guide the flow of information. With Rolling Stone’s approval I took an experimental approach where the rule was made up of text. This allowed me to draw attention the the brand and names of the activation sponsors. This event generated a crowd of 1500+ people split between brand sponsors Vivid Seats, Tito’s Vodka, Chase, and Rolling Stone.
